Summer Success Series: Failure Isn’t Final!

Missed me?  Hope you enjoyed your 4th of July weekend!  Let’s jump back into our Summer Success Series with a very important topic … FAILURE!

A friend of mine who’s considering getting involved with my networking business asked me a question this weekend,

“What does the average person make in your business?”

And he was shocked by my answer …. “NOTHING!”

I explained that Average People come into the business with Average People Habits and Average People Work Ethic and Average People Dedication.   This makes them do Average People Things — in spite of the fact that they’re receiving direction from Above Average coaches.

So as soon as they experience a “failure” — a setback, someone says no — or worse, gives them a hard time — what do they do?  They Quit!

Unfortunately, this is true on a widespread basis.   For the masses, Failure is indeed Final.    They’ll step out and give their own achievement one half-hearted try, experience failure, and pull back into their shell like a turtle.

Don’t wanna be “Average”?   Know in your heart and soul that you’ve got GREATNESS welling up inside you?   Ready to break out and truly be ALL that you can be?

Here are some quick words of wisdom:

‘Successful Millionaires have had on average 10 Failed Businesses on their way to Ultimate Success…’ — Rich Dad  (Robert Kiyosaki’s Rich Dad Poor Dad)

Ok, so you don’t actually have to fail 10 times.    You just have to be willing to.  You can’t be willing to succeed ONLY IF IT’S EASY!   You’ve gotta be willing to walk the tough road.   Like a woman who wants to joy of motherhood, you have to be willing to go through 9 months of pregnancy!  After all …

“…throughout human history, The Promised Land has ALWAYS been on the OTHER side of the Wilderness!” — Richard Flint

There’s no Success without Struggle, people.   It’s part of what makes the success SWEET!   You won’t win ALL of the battles on the way to your ultimate victory.   But as long as you keep getting back up, you have another shot at the BIG WIN!

If you follow me on Facebook, you saw this yesterday…

“Greatness lives on the edge of Destruction.” — Will Smith, on Oprah

Exactly, Will!   There’s no Reward without the Risk! You’ve gotta put it out there — put yourself out there — in order to achieve the reward worth having!

The late great, Jim Rohn, cracks me up when he says if you run down an empty football field and cross the goal line, THAT’S NOT A TOUCHDOWN! Like Jim says, “You’ve gotta have the 300 Pounders” trying to squash you in order for it to mean something!

It’s only when you’ve put it all out there … stepped out of your comfort zone … risked it all … and stayed in the game despite failures … that you can score life’s biggest victories!

So if you’ve scraped your knees and been knocked down on the battlefield of life …

… GET UP!

Failure isn’t Final unless you decide that it is.

You’ve got Greatness in you!  Keep pressing on toward your dream and let’s realize that Greatness together!

Summer Success Series: What Are You Focused On

There are a lot of “Stuck” people out there.

We’re stuck because we’re depressed, in despair, hopeless, paralyzed by fear or failure …. just stuck!

Today’s walk with the mosquitoes and talk with my team was enlightening.   I had something totally different planned to share with them but was led to talk about this topic of focus.  When we were done, and I pushed play on my iPod, what do you know — more about being stuck and what you focus on.

So let’s talk about how you get “Un-Stuck”.

It all has to do with what you’re focused on.   We have a saying,

“What You Focus On EXPANDS!”

How true!   Whatever you fixate on … whatever you give your energy, time, and emotion to … GETS BIGGER!

Unfortunately, most people focus on — fixate on — their problems.   So they get bigger and Bigger and BIGGER until they consume and paralyze them.   Here’s what’s worse:

“What You Focus On MULTIPLIES!”

What?!   Seriously.   It’s all about Attraction.   Whatever your dominant thoughts are, YOU GET MORE OF!  We hate to admit it, but it’s true.  One of the reasons my first marriage ended in divorce is because we spent all of our time focused on Not Getting Divorced.   That made Divorce our predominant thought and that’s what we got — Divorced!   Guess we should have focused our energy on Staying Married, huh?  Or even better Marital Happiness and Fulfillment.    Now THAT would’ve been fixating on the right thing!

I became a Top 10 Money Earner in my last company and reached one of the highest ranks possible.   And I did it in record time.   People would ask me all the time, “how did you do it?”   The Answer:

“I thought about it ALL of the time!”

My predominant and daily thought — even in the midst of all sorts of problems and turmoil — was always achieving that level of success and how it would change my life for the better.  Focusing on that goal worked.   I’m doing it again right now!

I was watching Ripley’s Believe it Or Not and this guy set a record for walking across two buildings on this piece of nylon fabric.   (YES, HE’S CRAZY!!)  But he was interesting to watch.  The fabric was stretched between a window of one building and a window of the other.   From the time the guy started walking the line, his eyes were laser focused on the goal — the other window.   Just think when he took the first step, the target window on the other building was small — but with each step it got Bigger – until it was BIG enough for him to step through in accomplishment!

It’s just like that for YOUR goals, dreams, desires.

We could go on and on about this focus thing.   I just hope you get it and use it to empower yourself because it’s so easy to fixate on the bad stuff of life.   Here’s what blew me away on my iPod this morning:

As many good things happen on the worst day of your life as on the best day of your life. It’s all what you choose to look at.

Wow!

The key to getting “Un-Stuck”? Change your focus!  Remember:

“Obstacles are what you see when you take your eyes off of the goal!”

So be like the crazy guy on the tightrope — DON’T LOOK DOWN!  Focus on the goal — the window — the window of opportunity that is wide open before you and getting BIGGER with every step you take toward it!

This Summer, let’s focus on taking our personal development and achievement to another level.   Success is yours for the taking.   Just keep your eyes on the prize and before you know it, you’ll be right up on it.

Here to help,

T.Gray

Summer Success Series: Refuse To Accept Failure!

On May 29, 1953, Sir Edmund Hillary was the first man to climb Mount Everest.  It was the highest mountain then known to man — 29,000 feet straight up. He was knighted for his efforts. He even made American Express card commercials because of it!

What a great Success Story!   But when you read his book, High Adventure, you get the REST of the story….

In 1952, Sir Hillary attempted to climb Mount Everest, but failed. A few weeks later a group in England asked him to address its members. Hillary walked on stage to a thunderous applause. The audience was recognizing an attempt at greatness, but Edmund Hillary saw himself as a failure. He moved away from the microphone and walked to the edge of the platform. He made a fist and pointed at a picture of the mountain.

And what he said next, is the whole story:

He said in a loud voice, “Mount Everest, you beat me the first time, but I’ll beat you the next time because you’ve grown all you are going to grow… but I’m still growing!”  And he did.

There’s the lesson — keep growing.   Keep trying and keep growing.

This applies to life and business.   If you’ve experienced some level of defeat, fallen short of your goals, or flat out failed — the trick is to not give up.  Grow bigger than your challenge.  And then come back and WIN!

I find this especially true in network marketing.   We join this industry because we have the heart to win.    We choose a company.  And sometimes we fail.

We set a goal.  And sometimes we fail.

But the key to success is to Refuse To Accept Failure.   Don’t lie down in defeat.   GROW!  How?

1.  Seek Knowledge

This world is amazing!   Everything — and I do mean EVERYTHING — you ever need to know is in a book, on an audio, on a video.   And totally within your reach on Google, iTunes, somewhere in the public domain.   And much of it is FREE!

All it takes from us is EFFORT and TIME!   Will you put forth the EFFORT to seek out and obtain the knowledge?  Will you INVEST THE TIME necessary to consume it and apply it?

If so, you will grow!

2.  Seek Coaching

What’s the best way to get through a mine field?  FOLLOW SOMEONE!

The path to success is strewn with career-ending, psyche – destroying land mines.   And every day somebody’s getting BLOWN UP!   How do you get through?  Tap into the coaching of someone who’s made it through the mine field.   There are so many of us out there who are willing to share our experience — both positive and negative — with anyone who will listen, learn and apply.

All you have to do is Plug In.   That means value the coaching, cherish the relationship, and be accountable for your activity & productivity.

3.  Get M.A.D.:  That means Make A Decision.

Sir Edmund pumped his fist at Mount Everest and said, in essence, “I’ll Be Back!”  (Thanks Arnold)

I challenge you, pump your fist at this industry, the rank advancement or volume level that you missed last month, or whatever it is that beat you, and say with fiery passion, “I’ll Be Back!   And I’ll be BIGGER when I come so Watch Out!”

Refuse to Accept Failure!  Grow!   And WIN!
